Patty Valera
A little bit about me. I am originally from Nogales, Mexico. My practice is informed by my cross-cultural perspective as well as my professional experience and training. I received my master’s degree in social work from the Arizona State University and have over 16 years of experience working in community-based programs, crisis intervention and outpatient services. I have experience working with trauma, stress management, anxiety, depression, life transitions, substance abuse and grief and loss. I take an intuitive approach to therapy with a blend of different approaches that allow me to meet the client where they are and enhance their own healing capacity. Social justice and equity informed my therapeutic approach as I believe that the systems in which we live highly impact our emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. I create a non-judgmental space that empowers clients to gain a clearer connection of their intuitive healing capacity, gain insight about their internal landscape and work toward a balanced lifestyle. I enjoy using motivational interviewing and cognitive behavior therapy.
