Our associate clinicians have completed their course work and internship and passed the licensing exam. They have an associate license recognized by the state of Arizona but they are being supervised by an independently licensed clinician so their services are offered at a reduced rate. Despite not being independently licensed yet, they have extensive experience as a therapist.

Our trainees are carefully selected and found to have great clinical judgement, ability to build rapport with a wide variety of clients, and an eagerness to provide quality therapy. Trainees work at Tucson Counseling Associates in exchange for clinical hours and supervision needed to obtain their masters degree in counseling and clinical social work or their doctorate in clinical psychology.
Coaching/Consultation- $50-200 (50 minutes).
Working with a coach is different than working with a therapist. Coaching/consultation work differs from psychotherapy in that we will be focusing more on current stressors and finding solutions to repetitive present day problems using the specialties of the particular coach.
*80 min sessions are pro-rated at the agreed upon self-pay rate
A Note on Insurance
We currently only accept most BCBS, Aetna plans and all FSA/HSA cards. We are also contracted with UnitedHealthcare StudentResources (UHCSR)*. Some independently licensed therapists also accept United Healthcare and Medicare. Please note: clients must confirm their own coverage before booking. Clients may choose to waive coverage due to high deductibles and pay the self-pay rate. Watch our video, Insurance World 101, to educate yourself on this terminology! We also have an infographic on the bottom of this page to explain, as well.
*Please note: If using UHCSR, a referral must be sent from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) to your insurance and you must have a copy of it to hand your therapist on your first session.
Counseling and psychotherapy is an investment in yourself, your relationships, and/or your family. For this reason it is important to pay a fee that reflects the value of the services you are receiving. We have found that when clients pay a fair fee, this reflect their level of commitment to the therapeutic process they tend to benefit more from services. At the same time, we also are firmly rooted in the belief that we need to ensure that quality services are accessible to as many people as possible which is why all of our clinicians have a portion of their caseload reserved for clients to pay a sliding scale rate.
